Neighborhood name? Highland? Highlands? West Highlands? Potter Highlands? The North Side? Sunnyside? Berkeley?

This is a confusing conversation for many. I’ll do my best to guide you through the multiple names for the same area.

    Original Highland:

Highland started out as a town across (West) the Platte River. The town was formed as upscale suburb North West of Denver.  The reason for the name and the draw was the fresh air that generally flows from the west and staying above the streets of Denver granted home owners a break from the smells of an early city with crude heating and sewer systems.  The land was also fertile and farmed.  Wikipedia does a great summary of the area, the map and the history on this.  The boundaries were and are, the Platte south to Speer, North West to 29th, West to Sheridan Blvd, North to 38th, the East back to the Platte River. Also see the map above.

    Other Names:

The assumption when someone refers to the highlands, is that they are speaking of the following areas Highland  (Potter Highland or east Highland, West Highland, Berkeley, Sunnyside and Sloan’s Lake.   Many of these areas are similar in feel, location, restaurants, architecture price and size.  HOWEVER, there are differences worth exploring with a an agent that knows the area well.
